Bond Wolfe’s final auction of 2024 ended on a high, delivering another exceptional result with 84% of the 161 lots sold, including a standout £1 million-plus sale for Birmingham City Council.
One of the day’s highlights, Lot No. 2, was a potential development site off Coleshill Road in Hodge Hill, Birmingham. This freehold site, spanning just over one acre, achieved £1,060,000, far surpassing its guide price of £400,000. The property is described as suitable for educational, community, or residential purposes, subject to planning permission.
Another Birmingham City Council-owned property, land with an advertising hoarding at 400-404 Stratford Road, Sparkhill, also performed strongly, selling for £195,000 from a guide price of £75,000+.
Record-Breaking Auction Performance
The December auction raised an impressive £21,695,500, underscoring Bond Wolfe’s continued dominance in the property auction market. Interest in the event was immense, with:
- 571,204 website views in the lead-up to the auction.
- 84,426 video tours watched.
- 26,983 legal packs downloaded, reflecting intense competition and nationwide demand.

- Former Maypole Methodist Church, Sladepool Farm Road, Kings Heath – sold for £555,000, comfortably exceeding its guide price of £345,000.
- Residential development land on Grange Road, Kings Heath – with planning permission for two four-bedroom houses, sold for £312,000 from a guide price of £235,000.
- Land at Tasker Street, West Bromwich (offered on behalf of Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council) – sold for £128,000, more than double its guide price of £50,000.
- Two terraced properties at 78-80 Byrne Road, Wolverhampton (offered on behalf of City of Wolverhampton Council) – sold for £265,000, almost doubling its guide price of £136,500.
- 30 self-contained flats at 9 St George’s Parade, Wolverhampton – sold prior to the auction for £2,100,000, exceeding its guide price of £1,850,000.
- Partly constructed four-bedroom bungalow, Orchard Lane, Hanwood, Shrewsbury – sold for £300,000, surpassing its guide price of £275,000.
