Birmingham City Council Lots to Headline Bond Wolfe’s February Auction

We have been instructed to offer seven new lots by Birmingham City Council, which will feature in our first auction of 2025 on Thursday, 6 February.

Gurpreet Bassi, Chief Executive of Bond Wolfe, commented:

“The lots we are offering in our February auction represent an interesting spread of properties, from a former children’s home to residential properties, potential development land, and ground rents on industrial properties.

“This is the first of seven auctions we will be holding online this year after a 2024 which saw our auction sales up 18.2% to £178,101,150.

“The signs are promising for 2025, and we expect the February auction to get us off to a cracking start.”

Exciting Lots to Watch

The first lot to go under the hammer is a substantial freehold former children’s home at 49 Merrishaw Road, Northfield, Birmingham. The property, suitable for a variety of uses subject to planning permission, currently offers offices, classrooms, and off-road parking. It has a guide price of £200,000+.

Also up for auction are two residential properties in Birmingham:

• 7 Netherdale Road, Hollywood, Birmingham – A three-bedroom, semi-detached property situated in a cul-de-sac, with a driveway and front garden. Guide price: £195,000+.
• 65 Chilcote Close, Hall Green, Birmingham – Another three-bedroom, semi-detached property with similar features, offered with a guide price of £175,000+.

Two parcels of potential development land will also attract interest:

• The Fordrough, Northfield, Birmingham – A 337 sq. m. site with potential for various uses, subject to planning permission. Guide price: £225,000+.
• Land adjacent to 79 Belchers Lane, Saltley, Birmingham – A larger 1,735 sq. m. site, formerly used as a depot, also offering development potential (subject to planning).

Additionally, ground rents on two industrial premises in Nechells, Birmingham, will be offered:

• 92 Cato Street – Sold freehold, subject to a 125-year lease from March 1987, with a ground rent of £100 per annum, doubling every 25 years from 2037. Guide price: £20,000+.
• 94 Cato Street – Similar terms, with approximately 88 years unexpired on the lease. Guide price: £20,000+.
