Staff from commercial property agency and auctioneers Bond Wolfe have raised £10,000 in the last year for the Teenage Cancer Trust Young Persons’ Unit in Birmingham.

The funds were raised at a number of events across 2022 including a skydive, a half marathon and a Christmas Jumper Day.

Lisa Worrall, director – agency at Bond Wolfe, explained that donations to the unit had been made by the Bond Wolfe Charitable Trust, via the University Hospitals Birmingham Charity.

Ms Worrall said: “The primary focus of the Bond Wolfe Charitable Trust is to raise funds for a range of worthy causes that help people from all walks of life.

“In 2022, we have been proud to support the University Hospitals Birmingham Charity, raising funds for the Young Persons Unit through our company fundraising activities.

“This included four Bond Wolfe staff joining University Hospitals Birmingham Charity for a tandem skydive in October, a once-in-a-lifetime experience, taking off from Hinton-in-the-Hedges Airfield, Brackley, Northamptonshire.

“Meanwhile, our very own David Chester took part in The Potters ‘Arf!, one of the toughest half-marathon courses in the country involving runners and walkers from across UK.

“Other examples of our fundraising activities in the year included a Christmas jumper day, giving our team the chance to wear their festive favourites in exchange for a donation, along with a collection of small gifts.

“And last Easter our staff also collected a variety of delicious chocolate eggs for the unit.”

Ms Worrall added: “We are all tremendously proud of our colleagues for literally going above and beyond to raise money for this fantastic cause.”

The Teenage Cancer Trust Young Persons’ Unit is based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

The unit is designed to ensure that teenagers and young adults are diagnosed efficiently, treated effectively, and have the support they need to make it through their treatment and rebuild their lives after cancer.

For 2023, the Bond Wolfe Charitable Trust is to support the University Hospitals Birmingham Charity’s (UHBC) Children’s Appeal.

This will be raising funds to support children by making their time in the hospital a little more comfortable, and less daunting, and creating a child-friendly environment across the four hospitals supported by UHBC.
