Traditional values, modern solutions

Do you have a property to sell or let?

Bond Wolfe has successfully sold a former Convent building in Southam in our latest online live-streamed auction.

Our Lady Convent in Wood Street, Southam, Warwickshire, offered jointly with Wareing & Co, was sold for £525,000. The property is a former building containing retirement rooms for an order of Nuns and was occupied until approximately 2007. It comprises a two storey brick-built structure attached to Our Lady and St Wolfrun Catholic church, together with attractive landscaped gardens.

The freehold town centre site of 0.734 acres has planning permission for ten units. James Mattin, auctioneer and managing director of Bond Wolfe, said: “We were very pleased to achieve such a successful result for an unfamiliar type of property such as this site. It is further proof of our ability to find buyers for unusual properties, following on from our sale earlier this year of Fenny Marina.”

Fenny Marina is on the southern arm of the Oxford Canal at Station Fields in Fenny Compton, near Southam in Warwickshire, with 85 boat berths, a three-bedroomed bungalow and extensive outbuildings.

We listed the property with a guide price* of £950,000+ in our live-streamed auction in February, but after multiple enquiries and competitive offers, it was sold 24 hours before the auction took place. The new owners are Crafted Boats Ltd, a family-owned firm of specialist boat builders and repairers based in Bromsgrove, founded in 1953.

We also sold sites operated by St Austell Brewery in Devon and the former Bass Brewery building in Burton-on-Trent. It also has holiday lodges in Wales and care homes across the Midlands currently under offer.

Mr Mattin said: “We like a challenge, and we have a contacts book full of investors with imagination, open to innovative opportunities. We’d like to hear from more sellers who have interesting sites or properties they want to sell.”
