Former children’s home to go under the hammer
Viscount House, the former children’s home is to be sold by auction. The freehold purpose-built two storey property in Castle Vale, is the flagship lot of five being offered by Birmingham City Council in Bond Wolfe Auctions’ July sale at Villa Park on Wednesday 3 July.
This is the third auction in a row to offer over 100 lots and the business, which was only launched in January this year, has already been instructed on 350 properties this year. The first two auctions had an average success rate over 87%, already establishing Bond Wolfe Auctions as the Midlands’ leading auctioneer in 2019.
Bond Wolfe Auctions’ chief executive Gurpreet Bassi said: “The Former Children’s Home is to be sold by auction with the possibility of continuing as a children’s home but the property may be suitable for a number of alternative uses, including residential conversion in to two or three residential dwelling, subject to planning permission.”
At present the building sits behind a foregarden with some off-road parking and overlooks a park and play area.
The accommodation currently consists of a ground floor with reception office, garden room, five storerooms, fitted kitchen, second kitchen, lounge, dining room and an office and bedroom.
The first floor has nine bedrooms with en suite wet rooms and WCs, a kitchenette, four store cupboards a bathroom with shower and a sluice room. Outside there is parking for seven vehicles, a side driveway and two brick stores. The property is offered with a *guide price of £175,000+.
Also going under the hammer is a three bedroom leasehold detached house in Erdington at 8 Fentham Road, which is a former caretaker’s property with additional side land. The property could be redeveloped or may, with the garden land, be suitable for residential development, subject to planning permission. It has a guide price of £130,000+.
The remaining three Birmingham City Council lots being offered consist of plots of land, including freehold land adjacent to 76 Grendon Road in Kings Heath (guide price £10,000+), a freehold plot next to 81 Grendon Road, Kings Heath, (guide price £10,000+) and a larger freehold site next to 11 Stones Green in Erdington, which is offered with a guide price of £30,000.
