Traditional values, modern solutions

Do you have a property to sell or let?

What ’ave we got here then? An historic former police station and magistrates court in the Black Country are among the more unusual lots in Bond Wolfe Auctions’ next auction.

What’s known as Old Hill Police Station at 240 Halesowen Road, Old Hill in Cradley Heath will go under the hammer at Villa Park in Birmingham on 11 December.

The eye-catching buildings – some dating back to Victorian times – are being sold on behalf of West Midlands Police and will go before bidders with a guide price* of £250,000+.

Ian Tudor, managing director of Bond Wolfe Auctions, said: “I have a longstanding working relationship with West Midlands Police and I am delighted to be instructed on this cracking opportunity.

“This attractive freehold property measures approximately 6,803 sq ft and comes with car parking for up to ten vehicles.

“The buildings include a detached part two-storey, part single-storey ex-police station and a former magistrates court, with a range of offices, former interview rooms, former court room, stores, kitchen, toilets, plant and boiler rooms.

“They are located with a prominent frontage to Halesowen Road at the junction with Court Street in a well-established area comprising a church, medical centre, religious hall, local shopping, offices and residential dwellings.”

Old Hill lies approximately seven miles west of Birmingham city centre, two miles south of Dudley and two miles north of Halesowen town centre.

This is not far away from junctions 2 and 3 of the M5 motorway and is close to Old Hill Railway Station on the main line between Birmingham Snow Hill and Stourbridge.

Mr Tudor added: “The former Old Hill Police Station and court could be considered suitable for a variety of alternative uses, subject to planning permission, and we expect strong interest from bidders on the day.”

The former police station and court building will be just one of more than 140 lots going under the hammer in Bond Wolfe Auctions’ next auction at 10.30am on Wednesday 11 December at the regular venue of the Holte Suite at Aston Villa FC.

Bond Wolfe Auctions, which launched in January this year, has so far sold 503 lots out of 592 offered and raised over £66.2 million with an average success rate of 85% – comfortably making it the West Midlands’ leading auctioneer.
