Grade II-listed lock keeper’s cottage on inner city canal-side
A historic Grade II-listed canalside property in inner-city Birmingham is bound to attract keen bidders at Bond Wolfe’s next auction later this month.
The former lockkeeper’s cottage at 79 Deykin Avenue in Witton is a grade II-listed building and it is listed with a guide price* of £135,000+ in the live-streamed auction on 30 March.
James Rossiter, an auction valuer at Bond Wolfe, explained that the detached freehold building on the Tame Valley Canal has three bedrooms, and is being sold with vacant possession.
Mr Rossiter said: “This is a characterful building with frontages onto the canal opposite a lock, and it is accessed via the canal path off Deykin Avenue.
“There are three reception rooms and a kitchen on the ground floor, with access to a large, two-roomed cellar.
“Upstairs is a landing leading to three bedrooms and a bathroom, while outside there are side yards and brick built stores with the potential space for off-road parking.”
He added: “The property has gas-fired central heating and could be suitable for conversion to a house of multiple occupations subject to planning permission.”
The cottage is among scores of lots that will appear in Bond Wolfe’s next auction which starts at 9am on Wednesday 30 March. The auction will be live-streamed via Bond Wolfe’s website with remote bidding by proxy, telephone or internet only.
