New auction record for the total number of lots sold in a single day by Bond Wolfe

Top property auctioneer Bond Wolfe has broken its previous record for the total number of lots sold in a single day, raising more than £29.2 million in sales.

The fast-growing company sold 222 lots from the 231 offered in its latest livestreamed auction yesterday [21 July], achieving a success rate of 97%.

The build up to the busy auction saw 633,651 website page views, 251,516 video tours watched and 51,517 legal documents downloaded, reflecting the increasing regional, national and global demand for property.

Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of Bond Wolfe, said: “Despite the end of the first phase of the stamp duty holiday, the marketing period for this auction remained as busy as ever.

“This interest was then reflected in another marathon livestreamed auction, with the growing demand for well-priced property continuing.”

In a day of strong results, standout lots included the two-bedroomed, semi-detached Vine Cottage on Church Lane, Wishaw, near Sutton Coldfield, which after competitive bidding was sold for £380,000 from a guide price* of £195,000 to £225,000.

Down in south Birmingham, a three-bedroomed, semi-detached house at 42 Horse Shoes Lane in Sheldon also proved popular, selling for £237,000 from a guide price of £125,000+.

Over in Kings Heath, the hammer eventually came down on a mixed-use investment property at 804 Alcester Road South for £203,000 from a guide price of £137,000+.

Interest in properties in the north of the city was similarly strong, with a three-bedroomed, semi-detached house at 406 Old Walsall Road in Great Barr selling for £175,000 from a guide price of £125,000+.

There was also healthy demand for several commercial ground rents being sold for Birmingham City Council in the auction. These included:

86 Lord Street in Duddeston selling for £110,000
160 Hockley Hill in Lozells selling for £190,000
70 Summer Lane in Newtown selling for £200,000
110 Bissell Street near Highgate selling for £170,000, and
10 and 10a Eyre Street near Ladywood selling for £175,000.

Mr Bassi added: “We are delighted with the continuing healthy results we are achieving for our vendors which once again demonstrates that auction buyers’ appetites for attractively priced property remains strong.”
