Staff Spotlight: Suzanne Randell, Bond Wolfe Operations Director
Welcome to the fourth edition of Staff Spotlight, our blog series that takes you behind the scenes at Bond Wolfe, introducing you to the people who make everything happen. Each feature gives you an insight into their role, motivations, and a few fun facts—including some surprising hidden talents!
Next up, we have Suzanne Randell, our Operations Director. Suzanne is the glue that holds our systems, processes, and compliance together, always looking for ways to improve efficiency. Outside of work, she loves spending time with family, travelling, and—perhaps most importantly—she thinks she can do the worm dance (though she insists on calling it the caterpillar). Let’s get to know her!
What is your role at Bond Wolfe, and what does a typical day look like for you?
I am the Operations Director, and I oversee all of our systems, processes, and compliance. I am constantly trying to find better ways of working or new technology that can simplify our processes. If a job doesn’t fit into someone else’s role, it tends to land with me.
What do you enjoy most about working at Bond Wolfe?
Definitely the team—we are like a big family. Everyone works hard and wants the business to be the best it can be, but we also have fun along the way and genuinely care about and support each other. This comes from the top, and Gurpreet is honestly the best boss anyone could wish for. I could go to him with any problem and know he would do everything possible to help. I am so grateful for the opportunities he has given me and everything he has done to support me.
If you weren’t in your current role, what career would you have pursued?
I would love to make a difference in young lives—either as a children’s nurse, in a care home, or an SEN school. However, I cry at everything, so I’d be an emotional wreck!
What’s your favourite thing about the team at Bond Wolfe?
Everyone brings something different to the team. We all come from various backgrounds and walks of life, but everyone genuinely gets on and supports each other.
What drives and motivates you?
I’m not afraid of hard work, and if I am doing a job, I like to do it properly. But everything I do is for my family. I have a wonderful husband (who works equally hard) and two fantastic kids, and I want to support them and give them every opportunity to achieve whatever they wish for in life.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love eating out and spending time with family and friends (especially the hubby and kids, although they aren’t kids any longer!). I also love travelling—particularly visiting my sister and her children in Australia and my daughter, who is currently studying in Copenhagen. And I love going to the gym… when I can!
Do you have any hidden talents or surprising skills?
I like to think I can do the caterpillar!* On a girlie weekend away, I got my son to teach me over FaceTime. I wasn’t very good and went home with bruised knees.
*Catterpillar = Worm
What’s your favourite book, movie, or TV show and why?
My all-time favourite TV show is This Is Us. I watched every episode with my daughter—we binge-watched the first series and couldn’t wait for each new episode to be released. We were in floods of tears most of the time, but I loved spending that time together. It also really made me think about how everything we do or say can have an impact on someone way into the future.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
There are so many places I would love to visit! I love spending time with my sister and her two beautiful children in Australia, but I also really want to see the Northern Lights, visit the Blue Lagoon in Iceland, and go snowboarding in Canada.
If you could live in any era, past or future, which one would you choose?
I would love to have lived in the swinging ‘60s. It seemed like such a fun era—the music, the dances, the cute dresses, less crime, and a time when people weren’t glued to their phones!
